Savings Chronicle is about how to save for emergencies, an education and retirement. It’s about discussing the practical side of personal finance as well as discussing the deeper issues that affect our ability to handle our finances properly. Savings Chronicle will help you become the master of your finances.
Articles here at Savings Chronicle will deal with: saving money, reducing debt, insurance issues, saving for an education, saving for retirement, making extra money, passive income.
My name is Kent Moore, I’m the creator of Savings Chronicle and, for the time being, the only contributor. (If you would like to contribute, e-mail me.) I live with my partner, Jennifer, on Cape Breton Island. Cape Breton is one of the most beautiful islands in the world (don’t just take my word for it) and I always try to make the most of this amazing area. I love to run, bike, kayak, swim, snorkel and scuba dive.
I make a living from two separate sources: my financial planning practice and my research consultancy. I have a financial planning practice that is two years old and have more than 100 clients located around the Province of Nova Scotia. My research consultancy, SK Moore Research, contracts its services. SK Moore Research is made of myself and two associates.
Right now, Savings Chronicle is a brand spankin’ new site. I’m excited about what is possible. I’m currently in the process of developing the beginner’s guide to financial well-being; it will be available January 14. I invite you to go to my “Saving Tips” page. This isn’t about what I do to save; it’s where I want to hear from you. Tell me some of your favourite saving tips and once a week I’ll pick a few from the list and develop them into a post.
Please also subscribe for regular updates. If you have some spare cash in your pocket and like my site, support Savings Chronicle
Coming new in the new year, you can expect to see the “SK US Equity Fund” listed on the site. It’s just a portfolio composed of US companies in my database that I follow and that fit certain value calculations. I’ve been making picks since late in October 2009 and as of December 31, 2009 I managed a return of just under 6 per cent because of a very rough November. My quarter’s annualized return for 2009 is just under 22 per cent.
